Special Eduation Needs
At KIS, we are committed to providing comprehensive support and accommodations for students with special educational needs (SEN) to ensure they have every opportunity to succeed academically and thrive in our learning community. Our school has a longstanding tradition of identifying and supporting students with a range of SEN, including dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, and ASD. If your child has been identified as having specific learning difficulties, we encourage you to reach out to us, our Director of Studies, to discuss their individual needs and explore how we can best support them. For students with SEN, accommodations may include extra time during assessments, the use of assistive technology such as word processors, and other tailored support strategies. However, it's important to note that any recommendations provided for such a child will be determined by our capacity and available resources on a first come first serve basis, ensuring fairness and consistency. To facilitate the provision of appropriate support, we require the following documentation:
- An up-to-date report from an educational psychologist or relevant medical specialist, outlining your child's specific learning needs and recommended accommodations.
- A letter from your child's current school confirming their typical way of working and any existing support arrangements.
We adhere to the principles of the Disability Discrimination Act (1995), which prohibits discrimination against disabled individuals in education. Our admissions policy reflects our commitment to inclusivity and equal access to educational opportunities for all students. For further information on our admissions policy and support services for students with SEN, please visit the school on any open day. We are dedicated to working collaboratively with parents and professionals to create a supportive and enriching educational experience for every student at KIS.
